How Brightside Collab handles your personal information

The Brightside Collab (Brightside, we, us, our) is committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and store it, and your rights in relation to it.
1. What personal information we collect
We may collect the following types of personal information:
• Contact details: your name, email address, and any other information you provide when you submit an enquiry through our contact form
• Email subscription data: your email address if you subscribe to our blog or newsletter
• Payment information: payment is processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your credit card or banking details
• Session-related information: notes, business context, or materials you share with us during a digital mentoring session
• Analytics data: information about how you use our website, collected via Google Analytics 4 (see section 5)
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities.
2. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information in the following ways:
• Directly from you, when you submit an enquiry via our contact form, subscribe to our email list, or engage us for mentoring or consulting services
• Automatically, through analytics tools when you browse our website (see section 5)
We don't collect personal information from third parties without your knowledge.
3. How we use your personal information
We use personal information to:
• respond to your enquiries and communicate with you about our services
• deliver mentoring sessions and consulting engagements
• send you blog updates and occasional service news, where you have subscribed to receive them
• improve our website and content based on usage data
• meet our legal and administrative obligations
We will not use your personal information for any purpose other than the purpose for which it was collected, unless you have given us consent or we are required to by law.
4. Email subscription and marketing
If you subscribe to our email list, we will use your email address to send you updates from the Brightside blog and occasional information about our services. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or by contacting us at hello@brightsidecollab.com.au.
We use MailerLite to manage our email subscriber list. MailerLite stores and processes subscriber data in accordance with their own privacy policy and data processing terms. By subscribing, you acknowledge that your email address will be stored and processed by MailerLite on our behalf. You can review MailerLite's privacy policy at mailerlite.com.
5. Website analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised data about how visitors use our website. This includes information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and how visitors arrived at the site.
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data. The information collected is aggregated and does not personally identify individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
We may also use Google Tag Manager to manage tracking tags on our website. This tool itself does not collect personal data but may facilitate the collection of analytics data as described above.
6. Disclosure of personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We may share your personal information with:
• service providers who assist us in operating our business (such as MailerLite for email management and Google for analytics), where those providers are bound by appropriate confidentiality and data handling obligations
• legal or regulatory bodies, where we are required to do so by law
Where we share data with service providers, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it appropriately.
7. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
Personal information is stored electronically. Our key service providers (including MailerLite and Google) maintain their own security standards. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. When personal information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
9. Accessing and correcting your information
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.

In some circumstances, we may not be able to provide access (for example, where doing so would affect the privacy of others), and we will explain why if that is the case.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
